EMR Series flat sheet ultrafiltration membrane elements are designed for submerged membrane systems where stable solid–liquid separation and long-term operation are required.
They are widely applied in municipal and industrial wastewater treatment to achieve reliable filtration performance under fluctuating load conditions.
EMR Series - Flat Sheet Ultrafiltration Membrane Elements
The EMR Series flat sheet ultrafiltration membrane elements are constructed with a porous membrane layer supported by a rigid backing plate, providing mechanical stability for submerged operation.
This structure allows the membrane to operate reliably in wastewater environments with suspended solids, microorganisms, and organic matter, supporting consistent solid–liquid separation in submerged UF and MBR systems.
Key Features
Typical Applications

• Municipal wastewater treatment
• Industrial wastewater treatment
• Water reuse and reclamation systems
• MBR process for biological treatment
• Secondary and tertiary effluent polishing
Membrane Element Working Principle

Step 1 – Submerged Installation
Membrane panels are installed in submerged UF or MBR tanks.
Step 2 – Filtration by Suction
Permeate is drawn through the membrane under low transmembrane pressure.
Step 3 – Solid Retention
Suspended solids and biomass are retained on the membrane surface.
Step 4 – Permeate Discharge
Filtered water is collected and conveyed for reuse or discharge.
Step 5 – Continuous Operation
The system operates continuously with periodic backwashing or cleaning.
